The Home to Overseas Conference, or H20 Conference, is quickly becoming Canada’s premier event for the ocean technology sector and is attracting significant international participation.
It is an ideal event to engage with the ocean technology industry. The conference will include: international delegates, research, development and commercialization presentations, and B2B meetings. This year’s conference will also include on-water demos at the Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE).

Investing in Our Future Climate: The Challenges and Opportunities of Bringing Ocean Climate Tech Solutions from Invention to Innovation to Market
Moderator:
Eric Siegel, Chief Innovation Officer, Ocean Frontier Institute
Panelists:
The challenges and impacts of climate change are constantly growing, and while there is no single solution, the role of the private sector and its innovators is a crucial one.
2030 emission reduction targets and 2050 climate-neutrality will require industry to make a reality of invention and innovation in the economy, but that is no mean feat. The technology solutions the world needs have long development times, regulatory change is needed to create the markets, IP rights may often be complex and shared with government and academia, and returns on investment are many years out.
This panel will discuss these challenges and the kinds of approaches and change that are required to provide the blended stack of support, financing, patience and opportunity that will make these efforts successful.

Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), when paired with extensive emissions reductions, is a mitigation strategy to limit warming to 1.5°C as it removes legacy carbon emissions from the atmosphere by augmenting natural processes on ocean and land.
However, in order to meet climate goals, CDR must scale 30 times its present capacity by 2030, which is estimated to require an annual global investment of 1.13 billion USD/year for research and development.
This panel event will:

This panel event is focused on the Global Greenhouse Gas Watch, which will provide a valuable tool to support the transparency of global mitigation action.
The system will be built on three components:
Open and unrestricted access to data will ensure a full transparency of system outputs, which will provide globally consistent information that will feed multiple applications including supplementary information to the traditional inventory reporting.
