New outreach initiatives aim to make the research eco-system more diverse and inclusive

Do you identify with an equity-deserving group and would like to be part of groundbreaking change?

New outreach within our Transforming Climate Action (TCA) program is designed to remove and mitigate systemic barriers faced by these groups. Disciplines across the program include engineering, geology, chemistry, ocean science, education and social sciences.

Equity-deserving groups, such as women, Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, people with disabilities and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, often experience significant barriers in society.

Barriers could include attitudinal, historic, social and environmental barriers based on age, ethnicity, disability, gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.

Have your say

Your input will support the co-creation of theme-based activities. To participate confidentially, fill out one or more of the following forms:

  1. Stereotypes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
  2. Comparing research career paths between education science and marine science
  3. Intergenerational relations and approaches in climate research and climate adaptation

About the Transforming Climate Action program

TCA is one of the most intensive investigations ever undertaken into the ocean’s role in climate change.

The program is led by the Ocean Frontier Institute on behalf of Dalhousie University in partnership with L'Université du Québec à Rimouski, Université Laval, and Memorial University.
