New outreach within our Transforming Climate Action (TCA) program is designed to remove and mitigate systemic barriers faced by these groups. Disciplines across the program include engineering, geology, chemistry, ocean science, education and social sciences.
Equity-deserving groups, such as women, Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, people with disabilities and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, often experience significant barriers in society.
Barriers could include attitudinal, historic, social and environmental barriers based on age, ethnicity, disability, gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.
