Why are you involved on this project?

I'm involved because I hope that I can contribute positively towards the project and people involved in the work, and because the focus and methodology of the project resonates with my values.

How does your work relate to Nunatsiavut?

I didn't know about Nunatsiavut before reading about this project - at the time I was still living in South Africa. I've since done a lot of reading and listening, and was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks in Nain, visiting the research centre in 2021. I want to continue to learn more, and hope to make another trip up to see some of the other communities soon.

What is your favourite outdoor activity?

I love any activity that gets me out into wild remote nature, but my favorite is disappearing into the mountains to hike for days. The Otter Trail in South Africa is probably my favorite hike of all time, but I also really enjoyed Kilimanjaro, and hope to one day get to explore the Rwenzori mountains in the DRC.

What is your favourite place in the world?

The Tsitsikamma forest and areas surrounding Nature's Valley on the East Coast of South Africa! My family has been going there since I was a born, so it has a lot of special memories, and it is absolutely stunning wild nature - warm ocean and lagoons to swim and fish, rainforest covered mountains to hike - perfection!
